RECU is the before and after-school program offered on-site at each elementary school in the Mooresville Consolidated School District. We focus on the strengths of individuals through recreation, enrichment, and community involvement. Activities include homework help, crafts, enrichment, sports, and games.
Please reach us at if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Registration for the 2024-2025 school year will start on June 24 at 8 am. You can register online by visiting www.mooresvilleparks.com. Please note that if you have any unpaid balances for any program or rental, you cannot register or attend the REC&U program. We recommend that you check your Community Pass account to ensure that your child is eligible to attend the program.
The registration capacity of each elementary school varies based on the availability of facility space and staffing. We expect some schools to fill up. In case the registration capacity is reached, a waiting list will be created. As vacancies become available, individuals on the waiting list will be contacted based on their position on the list until all vacancies are filled. This process ensures transparency and fairness for all.
Most of the information related to your child's enrollment in RECU will be available on your Community Pass account. However, during the enrollment process, you will be asked to provide some basic information about your child, like medical history, photo authorization, etc.
After registering for REC&U, if your child qualifies for Free or Reduced Lunches, you'll need to send a copy of your child's qualification letter. Please note that a new qualification letter is required every school year.
Applications for Free and Reduced Lunch are available through Mooresville Schools and can be applied for around July 10. If you don't have a current qualification letter, you will be charged the Tier 1 (full price) rate for REC&U.
Yes, a nonrefundable enrollment fee of $25 per child per school year, PLUS the first week's payment is due at the time of enrollment.
The REC&U Fee Structure follows a sliding scale based on eligibility for the USDA Free & Reduced Lunch Program. This means that families who qualify for free or reduced-price lunches can get a lower cost for the program. The Free & Reduced Lunch program eligibility is determined by the Mooresville Schools and normally opens around mid-July. A new eligibility letter is required every school year

Weekly payments are required, Payments for the program must be made on or before the FRIDAY before the start of the week. You can pay online through your Community Pass account or set up automatic recurring payments.
To set up automatic payments, you will need to fill out and submit a "Recurring Payment Authorization Form" every year to the Park Office. The automatic payment will be deducted on the Friday prior to the start of the week.
If you fall two weeks behind on payment, you will not be allowed to attend the program until you have cleared your balance. If you need to make alternate payment arrangements, please contact the Park Office at (317) 831-7149.
Each year, a "Recurring Payment Authorization Form" must be completed and returned to the Park Office for weekly payments to be automatically deducted. Automatic payments will come out on Friday morning the week prior. All other payment information and attendance notifications still apply to individuals signed up for automatic payments.
Note: Weekly credit card charges are taken out on Fridays before the week of service.
The RECU Before/After School program does not operate during school breaks. However, during extended school breaks, The Park offers BREAK CAMP, which requires a separate registration.
We will do our best to offer the children fun, creative, engaging activities, but please understand that there may be some restrictions due to space and after-school activities with the school. Activities include sports, games, arts & crafts, and science experiments. The RECU program and its staff will continue to focus on providing quality childcare while being positive role models and providing a safe, encouraging environment for the children in the program.
RECU is NOT a drop-in program. We plan staffing according to the number of children expected and need to know attendance in advance. While we try accommodating some schedule flexibility, it is not always possible. Some changes may not be able to be made. Any changes in attendance must be approved in advance. A minimum 10-day notice is required for all changes.
If you withdraw your child, it is not guaranteed that they will have a spot when you need them to return to the program.
The RECU program will NOT be offered when school is closed for holidays, weather-related closures, or eLearning Days. Weekly fees are based on 1-2 or 3-5 attendance days. Refunds and credits are not issued for unforeseen closures (such as weather). When there is a scheduled eLearning Day, the weekly fee will be the same unless it changes the child's anticipated attendance to less than three days that week. Please call the Park Office if you have any questions regarding payments or the amount to be paid weekly.
Each RECU site has a cell phone for emergency use. If you have an emergency or anticipate being late (after the 6 pm closing. Please call your site phone.
Please note: Some locations do not have an excellent signal inside the building, so please leave a message if our staff does not answer.

2-HOUR DELAYS - The RECU Before School Care program will open at 6:30 am on 2-hour delays. Due to limited capacity, this will only be offered to individuals who regularly attend the Before Care program.
CLOSINGS - If a school closes due to any unforeseen circumstance, RECU will not be offered at that school.
For consistency purposes, most schools will still group children by age/grade.
Sick children should not attend the program. Any child with a fever of 100.4°F or higher must remain at home until they are fever-free for at least 24 hours without using fever-reducing medication. It is important to note that if a child does not meet the qualifications to attend school, they are not eligible to participate in the RECU program.
If a child becomes ill during the program, the RECU staff will perform a health screening by taking the child's temperature and looking for visible symptoms. The child will be separated from the group and supervised by the staff until the end of the program or until picked up by an authorized adult. A parent or guardian will be called for immediate pick-up if a child vomits or has a temperature. If a child is not feeling well before school, the school nurse or office should be notified at the beginning of the school day.
